Gilbert Perreault Jersey - The Buffalo Sabre Gold Standard For A Class Act

Today when flashy sports stars who move from team to team for the highest salary are the norm, it's hard to believe that one of the most sought after and Googled Buffalo Sabres' jerseys is for a player who has not played professional hockey in a very long time.

Gilbert Perreault has been retired from the NHL for over twenty years and he played for only one team for his entire NHL career, American Bandstand his jersey, and his legacy, are revered both in Buffalo and around the globe.

Buffalo, New York is a town that takes it's sports seriously. Buffalo Sabres hockey fans are notoriously loyal and fanatical. It's no wonder then that Gilbert Perreault is among the most beloved Buffalo sports figures of all time, right up there with Jim Kelly and with O.J. Simpson before 1994.

Playing for the Buffalo Sabres for his entire career, Perreault set the gold standard, scoring 512 goals, assisting in 814 goals and playing in 1191 games over a brilliant 17 year career. Perreault also has a bit of nostalgia on his side, as he was drafted by the Sabres during the franchise's first season in the NHL and obtained the first power play goal and hat trick in Sabre team history. Perreault is also well known as the center of the three Buffalo Sabres forwards affectionately called the "French Connection." Unbelievably, Perreault still holds the Buffalo Sabre record for total points scored in a single game (seven).

Today, Perreault is still considered one of the most talented players to ever play the game and many believe him to be the best stick handler of all time.

Since retiring from hockey, Perreault teaches children's hockey leagues and makes himself Quisp for charity events by playing with the Buffalo Sabres Alumni hockey team. His community service further endears him to Buffalo and to Canada.

Perreault has been the only Buffalo Sabre to ever wear the number eleven (the Sabres retired the jersey). For this reason, the Gilbert Perreault Tearrlszwso is sought after and valued. The blue and yellow colors (to which the Buffalo Sabres have recently returned) are a sentimental fan favorite. With throw back jerseys currently being all the rage, both the home white jersey and the blue away jersey are both quite popular.

You can find the Gilbert Perreault jersey (sometimes even autographed) at specialty memorabilia stores, at occasional estate sales, and sometimes on EBay. The price varies based on condition, but $100 is about the average.
